Frenchman Robert Consani is aiming to finish in the top three of next year’s FIA European Rally Championship having “accomplished his mission” of being in the top four this season: his first in a headlining R5 car.

Consani, an ERC regular since 2013, scored a season-best second place on the Internationale Jännerrallye in Austria in an ageing Peugeot 207 Super 2000 before he stepped up to a top-of-the-range a Citroën DS3 R5 for April’s Circuit of Ireland Rally.
“I wanted to step out of my comfort zone this season with a new car, and I’m delighted that we were able to finish the year in a Citroën DS3 R5,” said Consani. “It took a little bit of time to get used to the car, but I think now I’m ready for a full season with it. I’m pleased that we were able to accomplish our mission of getting in the top five, but also a bit disappointed because third was in our grasp. For next year, the objective is the top three.”

Consani has twice entered Rally Liepāja, both times competing in Peugeot 207 S2000 car. His debut year came in 2014, when Consani reached finish in 25th position. Frenchman was able to greatly improve his performance a year later, when he posted a Top 5 result.
